Up The River (1930)

BACKGROUND

The Fox Film Corporation decided to cancel production of Up The River because another studio was preparing to release a dramatic prison film. To remedy the situation, Ford turned the project into a comedy and got the project back into production yet. Yet of even more significance is the fact that Up the River has the distinction of being the first credited feature film for both Spencer Tracey and Humphrey Bogart and the only film they ever appeared in together.
